Another year is almost upon us, and what a year it was. Now it is time to begin planning how you will bring in the new year.

Wherever you are in Australia this New Year’s we have you sorted with our New Year’s guide for bringing on 2018.

Brisbane: With close to half a million people expected to go see the 20th anniversary fireworks at South Bank this year, you can expect a massive show. For families, try out Bribie Island Eve Market (12 noon-midnight) for a great market atmosphere and festivities, or Eight Mile Plains for a Little Nippers hosted NYE party with kids menus, kids rooms that include PlayStation, movies and colouring books with fireworks at 9:30 pm.

Gold Coast: There is always great family friendly entertainment activities set up along the beaches with some of Queensland’s biggest firework displays coming from Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach with an 8 pm and midnight show. The New Year’s Eve Carnival from 27-31 December will host performing arts, music, market stalls and lots of fireworks.

Sydney: Watch the fireworks from atop one of the rides at Luna Park or try the amazing animal experience at Taronga Zoo with spectacular views of the Harbour festivities, bring your own picnic or purchase food and drink there. Or try the Parramatta NYE river fireworks and family playground extravaganza for children rides and events.

Melbourne: So many great activities and events so little time! Starting earlier in the day Early Eve At Yarra Park and Early Eve At Footscray Park bring all the exciting parts of New Year’s together without the late night out. Families can enjoy free entertainment, films and fireworks at 9:30 pm.

Canberra: New Year’s Eve in the City is the great annual all ages concert line-up at two venues of Civic Square and Garema Place that brings the city to life with numerous musical acts taking to the stage, with fireworks starting at 9 pm and 12 pm. For a family friendly restaurant try the Red Salt that generally let the toddlers party into the new year for free, as well as Bass in The Place.

Hobart: A big crowd attractor for Hobart is the annual Taste Of Tasmania New Year’s Eve Party with music, great food, and drinks with the perfect spot to take in the fireworks. Children enjoy the Kids in the Park NYE disco just across the road with plenty of activities and music to keep them entertained. For great firework displays head to the Hobart waterfront for 9:30 pm and midnight displays.

Adelaide: NYE city council supported fireworks over the River Torrens includes an array of food, entertainment, and family friendly activities, or if you want to see the animals, try out Victor Harbour that includes a petting zoo in their celebrations. For beachside carnival fun try out the Semaphore Summer Carnival for rides, sideshow games, and fireworks.

Perth: Every year the Perth Zoo hosts its annual Streets Happy Zoo Year for the younger ones with activities starting at 5 pm and finishing with fireworks at 9 pm. If you want amazing displays of fireworks these can be seen all along the famous Swan River, Rottnest Island, Mandurah and Cannington River.

Darwin: The Wharf is where all the main attractions happen with the NYE Outdoor Festival, being a family friendly affair surrounded by great restaurants, music, and fireworks (9 pm and 12 pm).
