East Brisbane Before PaintingEast Brisbane After Painting

Whether you are thinking of renovating your business with a fresh new look or simply want to fix the faded & peeled paintwork, we have got you covered. Even before rolling our sleeves and lifting a paintbrush, we spend time inspecting each area, studying the architecture and considering your budget to find the colour schemes and types of paint that best suit your interior design. We understand that each site needs different paint—for example, an office wall might only need regular paint, but a more durable finish will be required for school walls that might see a lot of wear and tear over time.

Our interior painting services cover every aspect of your commercial & business interior, including walls, ceilings, doors, windows, basement, stairwells, and more. We can also install feature walls, which emphasise features and add more energy to your room through texture, colour and contrast. During the interior painting process (and even after the paint job), many factors such as odour and clutter interrupt your business’s daily operations. We take all of these into account and strive to provide our clients with high-quality low-odour paints with few to no Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). These compounds can cause discomfort during the painting process.

Unlike interior painting, the most significant problem facing exterior painting is the weather, which is especially harsh across some parts of Australia. Depending on where your commercial property is located, you may experience extreme heat, thunderstorms, or heavy snow, which can cause severe damage to your exterior paint. Fortunately, at Mathiou Services, we have teams of experienced and trained painters across the country who understand the local weather conditions. We use high-quality heat-resistant paints and apply the best painting techniques, making sure your exterior paint is stable in any weather condition. Before lifting the paint roller, we will discuss with you to understand more about your business and find your personally tailored exterior painting solution that conveys the right message to your customers.

The exterior is the most visible part of your business and forms your customers’ first impressions, which means an outstanding exterior paint job is essential. As a highly trusted commercial painting business, we take care of your business’s aesthetic by endeavouring not to leave your exterior in an untidy state during the painting process. For example, if you have plants and the painting occurs near your garden, we are willing to use a drop cloth or plastic sheeting to protect your plants from paint drops.

Frequently Asked  Painting & Decorating Questions

Commercial painting is important for making great first impressions and attracting new customers. A commercial building with flaking or ageing paint can deter potential customers from entering your shop or office because when you can’t fix your exterior painting, what does it tell about how you handle their business? A commercial painter can also help protect the building exterior from costly structural repair or replacement issues.

Commercial painting services include both interior & exterior painting and any required paint colour consultation. These also cover site preparation and cleanup needed before and after the task has been carried out.

The best types of paint for office walls include those with an eggshell finish, satin finish or semi-gloss finish. The eggshell paints offer a smooth finish that brightens walls in areas with low light. It is also durable & resistant to stains and scuff marks. On the other hand, paints with a satin finish offer a glossy appearance, making them suitable for areas that need light reflection, like the reception area. A semi-gloss paint finish is highly durable, so it’s ideal for high-traffic areas like hallways & breakrooms.

Plastic paint is often used in showrooms, display areas & offices. It uses water as a thinner and is available in an array of colours & finishes, including eggshell, satin & semi-floss. It dries quickly and offers high coverage, making it suitable for commercial applications.

Generally, cracks in plaster are common, but there are instances when they could indicate a more serious issue. If the crack is around 2.5cm wide, it’s time to call professionals, as it’s a sign of structural damage. Diagonal cracks & cracks over door frames should be checked, too. They could be a sign that your foundation is shifting or damaged.

The best wall crack filler for walls includes ready-mix or powdered sealants that can fill the defect while leaving behind a smooth finish. You have an array of options—from caulks & sealants to epoxy resurfaces and patching compounds.

You should be worried about cracks in the walls if they are wide (around 2.5cm wide), diagonal or located above door frames. And you should also be concerned if you can see the daylight through the wall crack. All these circumstances could indicate structural damage to your property.

Solid plastering is a technique that involves covering an entire wall in solid plaster without using a plasterboard underneath the skim coat. A traditional & professional form of plastering, solid plastering ensures products are fully sealed, levelled and weatherproof. It also offers sound-proofing benefits and helps create a streamlined wall finish.

Try removing a switch plate or electrical socket cover on the wall. Then, you’ll see a cross-section of your wall material in the hole cut. If there’s a layer of paper on either side, it’s drywall. You can also perform a quick hardness test. The drywall is relatively soft; you should be able to push a pin into it using only thumb pressure.

In Australia, commercial painting may cost from $240 to $700, depending on the project size & other requirements. Commercial painters may charge by square metre or ask you to pay their hourly rate. In general, you can expect to pay between $10 to $ 30 per square metre or $45 to $60 per hour per commercial painter.

Yes. But note that gloss finishes can be hard to touch up. Try reducing paint by 10 to 15% using a paint reducer to help the touch-up paint blend in. And if the touch-up results aren’t satisfying, you can always repaint the wall.

You only need a chip at least 2.5cm square for the best colour-matching results. Present it at the paint store; the staff generally uses their spectrophotometer to analyse the chip and match it to their brand’s closest colour.

Yes. But you need to prep the bricks gently before painting. If the bricks are outside, you may have to rinse them to remove loose bits of old paint, mortar & other debris. If they’re interior bricks, vacuum them. You may also have to apply fresh mortar between bricks for at least a week before painting over painted bricks. Also, don’t forget to apply a coat of primer.

Be sure to choose latex paint designed for brink or masonry. Painting the interior of a brick fireplace? Choose brick paint with heat-proofing capabilities, too.

Painted bricks last about 15 to 20 years, but it’s recommended to repaint them every three to four years to maintain their beauty.

Yes. It works especially well if you’re working with raw wood and applying a darker stain over a lighter stain. You can also mix two or more stains to create a custom stain to apply over your already stained wood.

You don’t need to remove the old wood stain to apply a darker stain. But you have to rid the lacquer, varnish or anything that will keep the wood from absorbing the new stain. After removing the lacquer & vanish, you also have to hand-sand the old stain to rough up the surface and help the wood absorb the new stain evenly.

Wood needs a strong base of proper sanding to achieve the perfect staining & finish, but you shouldn’t overdo it. Overdoing it may seal the wood so much that it will no longer take a finish. Keep this in mind: prep sanding should be done with progressively finer grits. Start sanding with medium paper and then proceed to finer grades.

The materials often used in road and floor markings are thermoplastic paint, water-based road marking paint, MMA (Methyl Methacrylate) cold paint & epoxy resin.

You can revive the look of a galvanised metal by cleaning it with good ol’ soap & water, removing rust and recoating it or painting over it. Just make sure to prep it accordingly for the best results.

When painting a playground surface, it’s best to use water-based latex paint. It’s specially formulated for playground marking and is available in an array of bright & inviting colours. It’s also the fastest drying asphalt-appropriate paint; it can dry to the touch in only two to three hours.
